Halabja Memorial Ceremony 2013 in Portsmouth.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
As a defender of human rights and as one of the Kurdish chemical victim myself. On behalf of the historic disaster on the city Qaladze, I am here today to regard the 25th memorial of the 5000 chemical causalities of Halabja with deep respect.

Dear mayor and citizens of Portsmouth, allow me to thank you for your appreciation towards the Halabja crimes and the Kurdish genocide cases.

Before I go into my main speech, I would like to give a short introduction of my city Qaladze. This city, 39 years ago, the University of Suleymaniye was attacked with international prohibited bombs by the Iraqi regime. While more than 300 children, women and students died and were wounded. 8 years later, on the 24th April 1982 Kurdish people in the town still commemorated this emotional anniversary. Unfortunately, the regime responded with firing bullets. Hereby also killing and executing hundreds of young people in the Qaladze region, named Pishdar. Thus, a year after the chemical destructions of Halabja, on the 25th of June 1989, the same regime destroyed Qaladze and all of its villages. Also deporting more than one hundred thousand individuals to concentration camps, similar to those of Hitler in Germany.

Now I would like to say to the UK government and Parliament; that I believe the Backbench business committee’s debate in the House of Commons on the 28th February this year was not enough for the recognition of Kurdistan’s genocide. Due to being afraid that before we will be able to bring our cases to the European Parliament and the UN, that our people in Syria will again undergo genocide with chemical bombs from the Assad regime or crimes like the incident in Paris at the end of January this year might repeat themselves.
Therefore, I think that our Kurdish non-governmental organizations in the UK and in other countries are in need of your assistance to establish an international association to stop those that want to commit genocides again on the accusation of their Kurdish nationality. Hereby I friendly ask you to support us, so that we can bring our cases to the International Court of Justice or other International Justice Authorities, just like the case of former Yugoslavia.

Ladies and Gentlemen; you have known for a long time, that those Middle Eastern regimes stole all our oil, killed our males and used our females for their own service. This is identical to the history of the Pharaoh and Mosses’ nation in ancient Egypt. Hence they find it very hard to cohabit with the different culture, nationality and religion in Federal or Con-federal systems similar to countries as the UK and USA.
So as a Kurd, I am sure that none of those regimes want life for our people, if they could. Therefore I cannot see any space to live in their dictatorship. Please, let us Kurds live just like other people in this world… let us decide our future for ourselves.
Thank you
Long live Halabja

Notes:

1- Halabja massacre was a genocidal massacre against the Kurdish people that took place on March 16, 1988, during the closing days of the Iran–Iraq War, when weapons were used by the Iraqi government forces in the Kurdish town of Halabja in Southern Kurdistan.

25 years ago the chemical attack killed between 3,200 and 5,000 people, and injured around 7,000 to 10,000 more, most of them civilians; thousands more died of complicationsdiseases, and birth defects in the years after the attack.

2- On 24th April 1974, warplanes of then Iraqi regime bombarded Qaladze town with prohibition weapons that left hundreds of civilians dead and wounded, causing huge damages to surrounding buildings.

About 8 years later at 24th April 1982 Kurdish people in the town commemorated the anniversary of the incident and their victims, but the regime responded them with fire and bullets.
